“If a poem is any damn good at all, it invites you to bring your whole life to that moment..."
Muriel Rukeyser

Poetry helps us describe what seems ineffable (indescribable) within our experiences of mindful meditation. It is a powerful companion on this path of awakening to the nature of things, and freeing our hearts and minds from deep roots of reactivity. Participants will be encouraged to develop daily present moment mindfulness as well as begin (or continue) a formal meditation practice. Instruction will be given.

Each week we'll dive into selected poems from Poetry of Presence, An Anthology of Mindfulness Poems, editor Phyllis Cole-Dai & Ruby R. Wilson. We will explore and practice the Seven Factors of Awakening which are: mindfulness, investigation, energy, joy, calm, concentration and equanimity. The chosen poems will reflect these themes, deepening our understanding.

Both new and experienced meditators are welcome. Each weekly gathering will be 2 hours long and will include guided meditation practice, check-in and dhamma theme. Group numbers will be kept small to allow time for sharing and discussion. Time to “bring our whole life to that moment…”
